God vs Science-E-mail I received

'Let me explain the problem science has with religion. The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'

'Yes sir,' the student says .

'So you believe in God?'

'Absolutely.'

'Is God good?'

'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'

'Yes'

'Are
you good or evil?'

'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!' He considers for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'

'Yes sir, I would.'

'So you're good...!'

'I wouldn't say that.'

'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't..'

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?'

The student remains silent.

'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. 'Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?'

'Er..yes,' the student says.

'Is Satan good?'

The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'

'Then where does Satan come from?'

The student falters. 'From God'

'That's right. God made Sa tan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?'

'Yes, sir.'

'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'

'Yes'

'So who created evil? The professor continued, 'If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'

Again, the student has no answer.

'Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?'

The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'

'So who created them?'

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. 'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. 'Tell
me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?'

The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'

The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?'

'No sir. I've never seen Him.'

'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'

'No, sir, I have not.'

'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?'

'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'

'Yet you still believe in him?'

'Yes'

'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?'

'Nothing,' the student replies. 'I only have my faith.'

'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem science has with God.. There is no evidence,
only faith.'

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat?'

Yes.

'And is there such a thing as cold?'

'Yes, son, there's cold too.'

'No sir, there isn't.'

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. 'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest
-458 degrees. 'Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter ha ve or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. He at we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.' Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.

'What about darkness, professor.. Is there such a thing as darkness?'

'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation. 'What is night if it isn't darkness?'

'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and its called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word.'

'In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester.. 'So what point
are you making, young man?'

Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'

The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. 'Flawed? Can you explain how?'

'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student explains... 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought.' 'It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.'

'Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?'

'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes,
of course I do.'

'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?'

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. 'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.' The student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class who has ever s een the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter. ' Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the
established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir. 'So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. 'I guess you'll have to take them on faith.'

'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?'

Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We see it everyday It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'

To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself.
Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness
and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God.
God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.'

The professor sat down.

If you read it all the way through and had a smile on your face when you finished, mail to your friends and family with the title 'God vs Science'

The student was Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein did write a book titled God vs Science in 1921...

What We Did Yesterday

Yesterday Ray was off work, so it gave us a chance to get the deed to the land switched over into our names. We still have a few more things to get done before Jim Walter's can start construction on the house, but we are at least one step closer. For those who are unaware, click HERE to see the house we are getting built here in Morgan City.

Afterwords, we took Ray's Dad out to eat at Copeland's (in Houma) and had the $7.99 plate of Andouille Sausage, Red Beans and Rice. OMG it is sooooooo good. We figure we would go one more time while we have the chance because it may be a while after Juliana is born LOL.

Then we went to Micheal's and Hobby Lobby's looking for just the crystals for a "Makit, Bakit" suncatcher turtle Ray brought for me to make for Juliana. We had no such luck. I guess it is time to look on E-bay lol. I use to LOVE doing these as a kid, I just wish they would make some 'bigger" suncatchers for adults.

We got home about 7:00 CT. Ray and I laid down in the bedroom to watch a movie shorty after we got home. We hadn't done that in a while either, so it was nice.

Well anyway, I need to go take a nap. Between yesterday and getting up at 6:00 AM CT this morning I am tired again. See you guys in a couple hours hehe.

Birthday gift and More Baby Clothes...

Hello all,

Not a whole lot went on today. After Ray got off work we were suppose to go to a car show and would have had some pictures for you guys. Sadly, the car show was over by the time Ray got off work. So instead Ray changed the oil in the car lol.

After he got done with that we went over to Ray's co-workers house to give her daughter a birthday gift we had gotten for her yesterday. We planned on going over there just to drop it off, but ended up staying for about two hours talking. It was nice to sit around talking with Alison and her husband.

Oh speaking of one of Ray's co-workers, another friend of Ray's sent him home with a big box full of baby clothes ranging from newborn to 18 months, and 5 more blankets LOL.

Geesh it really cooled off today. It was nice until the sun went down and the wind started picking up. When we got back from Alison's house it was 54 degrees which isn't that bad except for the wind. I looked just now and it is 48. Going to be sleeping with the heater on tonight lol.

We now watching "Dirty Dancing." It is one of my favorite movies of all time, but my favorite part of the entire movie is the end lol. Click HERE to see the video of the song hehe.

Julian Beever's Sidewalk Chalk Drawings

Some of you may have gotten an e-mail from me today called "More Amazing Sidewalk Chalk Drawings". These drawings are all done by Juian Beever.

Here are a few YouTube links to more of of his AWESOME artwork!

There are a few 'new' ones in the link below
Below is a link to how he did one of his drawings.

On YouTube I cannot seem to find anymore "new" drawings, but you can search for "Juliana Beever."

I did a Google search for his images.
Click HERE for the first page of images.

Slide show ect

If it isn't one thing it is another geesh lol. This week has not been one of the best for me.

On top of that fact, slide.com is not allowing me to sign in much less update the Tag Tutorial slide show I have at the bottom of the blog. I am able to put in my user name and password in, but I click "sign in" NOTHING happens what-so-ever, and I cannot find anywhere to contact anyone......

Actually I take it back, I just figured out what the problem was, although the problem makes no sense I was able to finally fix the slide show.

My yahoo e-mail is on the frizz. When I login not all of e-mails will load and the ones that do I cannot get them to load to read them.

Most of the e-mails in my yahoo groups are being "eaten" by the "yahoo monsters" off and on this last week .

My Google Bookmarks are on the frizz as well. I am praying that Google is just working on the toolbar. I guess if the bookmarks don't come back I will take out and reload the Google Toolbar in a couple of days. Maybe that will work. There isn't anything I can think of on the bookmarks that I can't get to on my own, but the bookmarks make things much quicker. If Google has dumped all of my bookmarks it will SUCK trying to get all of the links back!

My Pregnancy Ticker was not showing up on the blog for a lil' while last night. Maybe that site was being worked on too or blogger was being worked on. I don't know, but I am glad it is back as of this morning when I checked.

Also, for about the last week, up until just a few minutes ago I have been unable to post tags from my photobucket account to the PSP YUKU group I am in. ugh.

On a more positive note my Dad has decided to send us some money for buying the stroller/car seat combo we want for Juliana as his gift to us/her. :) WOOHOO!

...anyway getting down off the soapbox now.

I hope everyone has had a better week then me! :) HUGS StarLady

Lifetime Friend E-mail

I have always loved this and it couldn't have come at a better time. HUGS to the one who sent it to me!
I am also putting this here for all of my family and friends to read, because at the end of the original e-mail it ends up being a chain letter, and I do not like sending out chain letters. :)

People come into your life for a reason,
a season or a lifetime.

When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
to provide you with guidance and support,

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,

This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,

because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,

Things you must build upon in order to have a soli d emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson,

Love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant

Thank you for being a part of my life,

Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Rummage Sale Today

In a lil' while Gina is coming to pick me up. Her,Kirstin, (her daughter) her dad and I are going to a huge rummage sale at the St. Bernadette Church in Bayou Vista (just across the bridge from Morgan City). Every year or two around this time the church does this. I know last time we went they had room full of baby stuff. I am going to see if I can find anything for Juliana. Last time they only charged $2.00 for everything you could put in a big brown paper bag, so what the heck it is worth a shot. It will run from 7:00 AM -1:00 PM CT. With the way everything usually goes when I am with Gina I will be surprised if I beat Ray home at about 3:30 today lol. At least we all usually have a good time. :)

" Paintings" from a Typewriter

I just got an amazing e-mail from a friend of mine in one of my graphics groups.

Paul Smith :

He lived at Rose Haven Nursing Home (Roseburg, OR) for years.

Paul Smith, the man with extraordinary talent was born in Philadelphia on September 21, 1921 with severe cerebral palsy.
Not only had Paul beaten the odds of a life with spastic cerebral palsy, a disability that impeded his speech & mobility but also taught himself to become a master artist as well as a terrific chess player even after being devoid of a formal education as a child.
"When typing, Paul used his left hand to steady his right one. Since he couldn't press two keys at the same time, he almost always locked the shift key down and made his pictures using the symbols at the top of the number keys. In other words, his pictures were based on these characters ..... @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ .
Across seven decades, Paul created hundreds of pictures. He often gave the originals away. Sometimes, but not always, he kept or received a copy for his own records.
As his mastery of the typewriter grew, he developed techniques to create shadings, colors, and textures that made his work resemble pencil or charcoal drawings."
This great man passed away on June 25, 2007, but left behind a collection of his amazing artwork that will be an inspiration for many.

These pictures are unbelievable. Strange we should just now be hearing about him. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Typewriter Art

Can you believe that this art was created using a typewriter?

Here are a few YouTube links that tell a bit more about him, his gift and of course shows many of his works of art. The last link shows all the pictures that I was unable to retrieve from the e-mail I received and many more.

Click HERE This link tells that Paul Smith was born with "Spastic Paraltsis" I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with Cerebral Palsy and apparently it does. You can read a small article HERE.

Movies

On our (Ray, his dad, mom and I) way back from picking satsumas (click HERE to see more about Satsumas) at about 12 noon, we stopped off at Movie Gallery . We rented Anacondas 3, Iron Man, The Happening, Defidently, Maybe . Ray and I decided to stay and watch a few of the movies at their house.

Anacondas 3 in my opinion was just made for anyone involved to make a quick buck because the first 2 went over so well. It sucks, the snakes are clearly computer animated. There was no thought process involved in "trying" to made them real. This is all aside from the storyline and structure are old and tired. I would recommend NOT wasting your time on this one.

Iron Man surprised me. It was actually a pretty awesome movie. I have never read the comic books in which the storyline was derived, and maybe that is why I liked it more than someone who follows the Iron Man comics. Diffidently worth the time spent watching it.

I haven't had the chance to finish watching The Happening (which seems to be strange so far). I have not watched Defidently, Maybe yet.

While I am on the subject of movies, I do rent movies from Netflix which for the most part cuts way down on the money we would spend otherwise on renting movies. The latest movie I rented was 300. Sure it have been around a lil' while, but hey it was a great movie! In a nut shell it is about 300 Spartan soldiers and the Spartan King fighting a war against the Persian army. I think it is more of an "acquired taste" kind of movie, but seeing as I normally don't like war movies maybe that says something about the movie.
